The Lexington Public Library branches around town have a full lineup of free and family-friendly activities over the Christmas break — from creative crafts and STEAM play to cozy storytimes and clever challenges. With options for kids, teens, and adults alike, there’s something to spark holiday cheer for everyone!

📅 Ongoing Winter Break Activities

  • Take & Make Craft Kits — Pick up seasonal craft kits at the Central Library for kids ages 5–12 to enjoy at home during the break (while supplies last). 
  • Open STEAM Play — Drop in with the whole family to explore hands-on building and creative experiments in the Central Library’s STEAM Lab. 

🎨 Creative & Holiday Crafts

  • Gingerbread House Making Mania — Decorate your own sweet masterpiece at the Eastside Branch.
  • Snow Globe Making — Craft a winter keepsake at the Central Library.
  • Solstice Candle Making & Hot Cocoa — Teens can create candles and sip cocoa at Eastside.

📖 Storytimes & Classic Library Fun

  • Storytime Sessions — Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers can enjoy songs, books, and wiggles at several branches throughout the week.
  • Puzzle Swap — Bring old puzzles to trade and enjoy a day of puzzle fun at the Tates Creek Branch.

Special Seasonal Activities

  • Chair Yoga for All Ages — A relaxing, beginner-friendly class at the Beaumont Branch to stretch and unwind.
  • Miniatures Painting Workshop — Teens and adults can try painting tabletop miniatures at Eastside.
  • Hip-Hop & Poetry Club — Discover expressive art and creativity at Northside.

  • Noon Year’s Eve Party — Celebrate with crafts, games, and a fun countdown — all happening before nap time at the Beaumont Branch!

✴️ Heads up: All Lexington Public Library locations will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so families and staff can enjoy the holiday.
