BOO'ing! your friends and neighbors is a great way to have some Halloween fun

Have you been BOO'd!? If not, start the fun yourself!

It's a fun Halloween tradition where neighbors and friends surprise each other with treats and a little festive cheer.

Boo'ing! your friends and neighbors is a really great way to get the whole community involved in a little bit of Halloween happiness.

View Instagram Reel: This is one of our favorite Halloween traditions

Here are the steps to keep the fun going:

  1. Print the "We've Been Boo'd" Sign: Simply click on the images below to print. This sign is a way to let your neighbors know that you've been "Boo'd" and encourage them to participate.
  2. Create a Treat Bag: Put together a treat bag with Halloween goodies. You can get creative with your treats, but some common ideas include Halloween candy, small toys, stickers and spooky decorations. You can even add a note or card to personalize the surprise.
  3. Prepare a Copy of the Flyer: Make a copy of the flyer below and print "You've Been Boo'd" instructions. This flyer explains the game and encourages the recipient to continue the tradition by Boo'ing someone else.
  4. Deliver the Surprise: Now is the really fun part! The best part about Boo'ing! is that it's a total surprise! Sneak over to your neighbor or friend's house, place the treat bag and the flyer on their front doorstep and ring the doorbell or knock on the door. Then, quickly retreat and hide to watch their excitement as they discover the surprise.
  5. Encourage Them to Continue the Tradition: Be sure to include the flyer that will encourage your neighbor to continue the "We've Been Boo'd" tradition.

It is awesome to get that special delivery, but it's also tons of fun to go BOO! someone else. It's a family-family activity that does not take a lot of time or resources, but yields awesome family time and a tradition that can last a lifetime for your kids to pass on to their kids and grandkids. Boo'ing! has become an awesome neighborhood tradition for us and something my kids look forward to every year.

To make Boo'ing! easier for you, I've included two FREE PRINTABLES. One spells out the directions so your friend or neighbor can pay it forward. The other is a sign to hang in a window once you've been Boo'd!
